Blurb:

Desiree lost her heart to Tahl before he moved away, pursuing a redheaded shifter. Devastated, she somehow managed to hope he got what he needed. Except, being part Fae, she now believes she’s cursed him. Tahl has returned, unmated, refusing to share what transpired.

When Tahl pursues her, realizing what she has always meant to him, Desi desperately avoids, her guilt—and refusal to be second choice—a deterrent to her heart. Her twenty-fifth birthday approaches, and hot from the chase, Tahl corners her. He triggers her heat and she must allow him to assuage it, however outraged and resentful she might be.

The redhead follows Tahl, refusing to accept his mating—he can’t be bonded should his mate die… The males fail to thwart the nefarious plan, and the true nature of both females is revealed. Only one bitch can win and keep Tahl’s heart, and Desi won’t lose.

Excerpt:

undone-by-destiny-evernightpublishing-jan-2017-finalimageNow that he was here, he was stalling, and he grimaced. Nothing much scared him, but the female presumably inside the cabin… He forced his feet to carry up the short set of stairs and opened the front door with a confidence he didn’t feel. Until he saw her.

Huddled on the couch, facing him, was his future mate, the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen—or scented. Cheeks flushed, hair now streaming in wild abandon and clothing awry, she glared at him, her rage muted by the trembling need radiating from her tense body.

“Baby. I got here as soon as I could. I—” His attempt at an apology was overridden as Desi lurched to her feet.

“It’s not fucking fair that I have no recourse in this, Tahl. It’s a done deal because you decided. You. And now I’m stuck with you. I have to submit to your … physical attentions so I can function.” She laughed, a harsh mimicry of her usual, musical burst of sound. The one he hadn’t heard in his vicinity for a very long time but had never forgotten. The dichotomy scalded his senses.

She stood, her body shaking, the hormonal flux pouring off of her, and he balled his fists to keep his hands to himself. A vastly angry Desiree was an incredibly beautiful and appealing female and his wolf seethed with impatience against her siren call. Tahl shoved his animal back and cudgeled his brain for something that would soothe her. Some sense of self-preservation kept him from offering his heart. It was quite likely she’d carve it out of his chest and eat it with a spoon.

His breath stuttered as with awkward, jerky movements, she yanked at the front of her silky shirt, the fine fabric rending beneath her impatient hands. She threw the remnants in the general direction of the couch before working at the zipper on her little skirt. The garment slid over her thighs to pool around her ankles, his avid stare tracking it as the black lace of her matching panties was revealed as well as the long length of her legs. She stepped out, nearly losing her balance, and kicked the material away.

This was so not how he imagined it. Throat dry, he closed the distance. “Desiree. Easy, baby. Let me—”

“You’ve done enough, Tahl,” she coughed out between shuddering breaths. “Now do what nature intended.” Her pretty bra popped open and her breasts were displayed. Sitting high on her narrow torso, they were in perfect proportion to the rest of her, though visibly swollen with need, the dark nipples beaded tightly.

Everything in him screamed to take her right fucking now, his cock so hard it hurt, his wolf groveling. Groveling. With inner strength he somehow drew from somewhere, perhaps his conscience, maybe his aching heart, he wrestled his libido into submission and hugged her instead. Trying to offer her comfort. His eyes closed against the intense draw of her soft, silky skin, the heat of her radiating intensely to the very marrow of his bones.

Desiree wrestled free, wild-eyed and flushed. Surely no other male would have been so fucking stupid as to trigger his future mate’s heat on the side of a goddamn highway and then leave her unfulfilled? He cursed himself again.

She scrabbled at the fine stuff of her underwear and it met the same fate as her shirt. Tahl drank in his first sight of the female who was his, all creamy skin and smooth curves, the soft dark hair at her apex neatly trimmed. But she was shaking harder, out of control, the scent of her arousal overwhelming him, and instinct took over.

With economic movements, he stripped off his own clothing. Desiree swayed, her eyes tightly shut as she panted through the tiny whimpers falling from her lips. He spoke her name even as he gathered her up and bore her down on the wide, soft couch, but she wouldn’t—or couldn’t—open her eyes.

There was no time, or need, or foreplay. He’d left her too long. Testing her preparedness with one finger, he grunted his satisfaction. Soaked. Her thighs opened wide for him as he maneuvered between them, her arms splayed and her head thrown back. She writhed, her wolf clearly right at the surface, and her whimpers escalated both in volume and quantity.

Recognizing the time for fucking couldn’t be put off by conversation, however necessary, he fit the weeping crown of his cock against her opening. Wet, sultry heat engulfed him as he surged inside on a desperate thrust. And froze at her muffled yelp.

“Fuck me, baby. Fuck. Me.” He wrapped her up, working his arms beneath her shoulders to tuck her as tightly against him as he could manage while holding his cock steady, giving her time to adjust. It was his turn to screw his own eyes shut in order to concentrate on not moving one fucking iota. He’d just taken her virginity, and even his wolf paused in its desperation to claim her.

Kissing Bandits Welcomes Lynn Crandall

Lynn Crandall: The Interview

Lynn Crandall picKB: Welcome to Kissing Bandits Blog! Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Lynn: Thank you for hosting me on your delicious blog. I love cats, dogs, any and all animals. I don’t mind spiders and bugs, just not on me. I love writing. The process is a discovery for me because I’m a pantser. That not-knowing everything up front can cause anxiety, but I typically keep writing and so far, the writing hasn’t left me hanging.

KB: Tell us a little bit about your most recent release.

Lynn: Unstoppable, Book 5 in my Fierce Hearts series continues the stories of a colony of were-lynxes as they battle an evil group of powerful, influential, and ruthless people, The Nexus Group, to save their world. The heroine, Lara Monroe, and hero, Booker Chase, each suffer from trauma and loss. While they work with their colony members to thwart the bad guys, they also support each other in facing their pain and finding true love. I like to call Unstoppable the “epic” conclusion to the Fierce Hearts series. Epic because with everything at stake, the colony engages in individual and group battles with TNG soldiers and monsters that could change their world forever.

KB: What has been the most exquisite moment of your life?

Lynn: I love this question! The most recent took place with my husband as we sat quietly in a forest preserve and savored the exquisite beauty of quiet, breezes freshening the air, and the sounds of nature.

However, I am keenly aware of the amazing moment while writing Unstoppable when parts of the plot unfolded in unexpected ways. I love when that happens.

KB: What made you want to become a writer?

Lynn: I’m a typical writer. I love words, I love stringing words together in sentences and paragraphs in ways that say exactly what I want to convey. I have always written interesting words or phrase on scraps of paper, just collecting them for myself. But when I read the book, On Becoming a Novelist, by John Gardner, it was like coming home. He spoke my language and I knew I wanted to write, and write well.

Unstoppable coverKB: Pick out one of the best lines in your novel.

Lynn: What do you love about it? I’m going to cheat. I’m going to use four. “So many words rose to tell Booker how she felt in this moment, but Lara didn’t say any of them. Not now. The moment was too sacred for words. Instead, she kissed him, and with her kiss she told him everything in her heart.”

What I like about this line is that Lara gives herself to the moment of intimacy with Booker, whom she’s secretly loved for years. Words fail, but with a kiss, she pours herself fully into the relationship she’s longed for. Because of her past, doing so is for her taking a big risk. But she doesn’t hold back. She doesn’t let fear make her decision.

KB: What kinds of female characters do you prefer to write?

Lynn: I strive to write female characters who are strong, physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I want the heroine to have real inner conflicts and woundings to process. It’s a given that in a romance novel the hero and heroine are going to enjoy a happy ending regarding their relationship. But I want the getting there to be rich and full of experiences that challenge her perception of life. I want the heroine to see truth and expand to be able to contain it, and have the ability to see her choices and make them, not simply react. If I can write that kind of female character, I feel readers will see her strength comes with sensitivity, discernment, and awareness, which I feel are strong qualities.

KB: Share a funny or ironic anecdote.

Lynn: I like even numbers, so I’ll answer a fourth question. I have terrible penmanship. When I began writing about one hundred years ago, my sons were very young. One afternoon my then seven-year-old son looked at a stack of printed pages from my book. His eyes widened, and he asked, “How is anybody going to be able to read your writing?” He looked truly concerned, until I showed him the pages were not hand written.

Here’s another excerpt: (Read a previous excerpt here.)

A noise pulled her from her musings. Blade came into the room. Clad in pajama bottoms and nothing else, he was a vision of male beauty. Lamplight spilled across his chest, highlighting his dips and planes, and the little trail of hair that started below his navel and disappeared into his pants.

“Come to bed,” he said as he crossed the room, his hand extended expectantly. “It’s late.”

It was late. She didn’t take his hand. “I’ll go to bed soon.”

He knelt at her feet, leaned over, and kissed her stomach. And then he put his palm over her abdomen. “You’ll have plenty of time to finish that before the baby comes, Emmy. You have several months. You’re barely showing.”

She stared at him. He looked like he was wide awake, but she hadn’t traveled to this other world with him this time, so she had no idea what he was talking about. Still, she thought she should go along with it. “Blade, where do we live?”

He chuckled. “Anywhere you are is home, honey.” Taking his hand from her abdomen, he framed her face. “Mrs. Edmunds, it’s time for bed. You’re sleeping for two, and besides, your loving husband is lonely without you.”

Okay—he was capable of listening to her, so he wasn’t reliving a past conversation.

He kissed her lightly, and then he put his head on her lap and didn’t move. She caressed his hair away from his face and rubbed his back, but he was soundly asleep. Shaking his shoulder, she said, “Blade? Blade, honey, how about you go back to your room? You can’t sleep like this. It’ll eventually become uncomfortable for us both.”

With a groan, he sat back on his heels and looked at her.

“Are you awake, or are you still my loving husband who is lonely without me?”

Shifting, he sat on the couch next to her. “I was dreaming.”

“Yes, but it seems to be the same situation as this afternoon. Has this happened to you before?”

He scratched his forehead. “I’ve had dreams like this for years, but I never saw your face, not until last night. I’ve never sleepwalked before.”

“So the dreams didn’t start when you brought that house here?”

“No, but I’ve dreamed about that house before. When I saw it, I thought it was meant to be mine.”

“Do we live in that house—you and me and our little bun in the oven?”

He glanced at her stomach, but he didn’t seem surprised by her reference. “I don’t know. I get bits and pieces, but they don’t all make sense together.”

“In your dream, when you came in here, what was I doing? What was I wearing?”

Looking at her intently, he shook his head. “I don’t know. It’s gone. When I try to recall, I only see you here, looking at a file, wearing exactly what you’re wearing right now.”

“I’m interested in hearing about the other dreams you’ve had.”

His mouth set in a grim line and he got up. “I’m not interested in telling you about them.”

Standing, she set her hand on his bare arm. “Blade, I deserve to know.”

He looked at where she touched him and very gently closed his hand over hers. Then he looked at her with fever bright eyes, and she knew he wasn’t in the present anymore. “I’ll take care of you, Emmy. I promise I’ll protect you this time.”

Blade’s Ghost–Coming Sept 21

Blade’s Ghost is a love story with a chilling twist. Check it out–

Blade's Ghost 500 by 750Emmaline Force has dedicated her life to using her gift of seeing and hearing ghosts to help the living understand the spirit world. Devastated after catching her fiancé cheating, Emmaline allows her best friend and partner-in-crime, Matt, to take a ghost hunting case far away, at Paradise Island Ranch Resort. However, she isn’t prepared for the deep and inexplicable connection she feels for one of the owners.

Haunted by more than a ghost, Blade Sanchez is tormented by dreams of a past he can’t recall. Once Emmaline sets foot on his ranch, the pieces begin to fall into place, and he recognizes the woman of his dreams. He finds himself torn between this timeless love and the ghost who threatens to take Emmaline’s life—again.

Finding each other was fate, but it will take more than that to overcome the malevolent spirit intent on destroying their happiness.

If this sounds a little familiar, then you’ve probably read Irrepressible Force. As I wasn’t happy with IR, and so I’ve rewritten it. What’s different? Mostly the plot. I cut about 35K from the original and replaced it with even more original text. The characters interact differently with each other, and so the love story develops differently as well. I’ve added characters (like Emmaline’s sister, Caroline) and changed the role of other secondary characters (Maria, Blade’s sister, and Alex, a ranch hand who, now, isn’t quite what he seems). The other major change is the heat rating. The original was artificially heated because I went through a publisher. This version, published independently by Lost Goddess Publishing (my company), is a mainstream romance. There’s still plenty of heat, though, so don’t worry about that.

What’s the same? The characters kept their names; the setting is mostly the same (new locations added); and it’s a love story with a ghost who doesn’t want Blade to be happy with anyone but her.

How about an excerpt? Okay–you don’t have to twist my arm!

He tried to move past her, but she reached out and snagged his shirt. She held the flannel material in her fist, the small buttons digging into her palm. “Blade, be reasonable. Maria called us, so why would you think we’re trying to trick her? Or you?”

He crowded her, pushing her back until the edge of the desk pressed into her upper thighs, and then he kept going. She had to release her hold on his shirt to brace herself against the table or she’d fall backward. Blade followed, pressing his hard body against her softer one, and resting his palms on the desk on either side of her. “How much do you charge for your services?”

The urge to take a swing at him was almost overwhelming. Fury overrode any fear she might feel. “Are you threatening me?”

His eyes roamed from her lips, down to her heaving chest, and back up. “I don’t take kindly to people who take advantage of my sister’s good nature or her unfounded fears. Now answer my fucking question.”

Oh, damn. He was so sexy when he was angry. Emmaline pressed her thighs together and licked her lips. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

He got in her face and growled. “Don’t play games with me. I’m not some stupid guy who’s a sucker for a pretty face, sexy legs, and a spectacular rack. You came all the way here from Michigan, and you’re planning to stay a while. How much are you charging my sister for your time?”

She wanted to answer, but her brain had short-circuited. His dark chocolate eyes mesmerized her, as did the waves of furious passion emanating from him. The stable and office fell away, and she had the sense she was traveling through time. The way he held her became intimate instead of threatening, and she felt her body softening, yielding to his touch. He kissed her, his lips warm and insistent, stealing a moment of forbidden pleasure.

His hand cradled her head, controlling the kiss and holding her as if she were precious. His tongue invaded her mouth, and dizzying feelings erupted in her core, the likes of which she’d never experienced. When he broke away, she gasped for air, but he wasn’t finished. No, his lips grazed her neck and chin, marking a damp path to her ear. He licked the shell and nipped at her lobe, and she moaned when his lips found a sensitive spot just below her ear. Seeking an anchor, she grasped his shoulders. When he pulled her closer and pressed his body to hers, she melted into his embrace. Only when his questing hand lifted the hem of her shirt did she shove him away.

The spell broken, Emmaline gazed at Blade. Her heart pounded wildly, and she was more than a little shocked. He blinked a few times, bewildered, and then he stepped back.

Emmaline smoothed her skirt and tried to step past him. The curious turn of events had left her very confused. His hand shot out, and he grabbed her arm. “Wait. You never answered me.”

“Right.” She exhaled and closed her eyes. Their exchange seemed so long ago. “How much am I charging Maria? Nothing.”

“Liar. It costs you in time and resources to be here. How much, Emmy?”

She shook her head, but she didn’t look at him because she didn’t want to chance drowning in his bottomless eyes. “I do this because I want to help people, not to make money. I charge nothing. We usually stay at a hotel, but there aren’t any around here, and Maria said we could stay in an open room. This is costing Maria one room and meals. That’s all. Please let go of me.”

His grip slackened. She pulled free and fled the stable.

Excerpt:

Tristan charged, narrowly avoiding the creatures claws as he flipped over and onto the beast’s back. He grabbed a tangle of fur and held on. The creature bucked and spun, but Tristan wouldn’t be shaken. The animal changed its tactics and began to roll. Tristan clasped his arms around its chest and wrapped his legs around its waist.

Tristan managed to wrangle the beast into a half Nelson, but the rolling continued. Tristan laughed as the two  careened into trees, through bushes, and began to pick up speed as they traveled downhill. The ride came to a sudden stop when they smashed into a rock wall, and the two tumbled apart.

“That was awesome,” shouted Tristan. “We should run up the hill and do it again.” He suggested this as he reached down and pulled out a branch that had wedged between his ribs. The skin instantly closed around the wound. Tristan laughed as he attempted to dust off what was left of his torn pants.

The Lycan rose to its full height and began to transform back into human form. Standing before Tristan was a young man in his early twenties—dark hair, well-toned body, and completely naked.

“You know if you wanted to get me out of these pants, you could have just asked,” chided Tristan. He unbuttoned the jeans and tossed them aside so he was left standing in his boy shorts.

“You suck,” said the man.

“Only if you ask nicely,” said Tristan while he batted his eyelashes.

The man jumped at Tristan and pinned his arms and back against the rock. “They would have killed you if they’d caught you.”

“Relax, Eric. They’ll never catch me.”

Eric grabbed Tristan by the throat. “You don’t get it. This isn’t a game,” he growled.

“It is if you play it right.” Tristan smirked.

Eric kissed Tristan hard on the mouth. “What am I going to with you?”

“I can think of at least a dozen things you can do.” Tristan’s underwear suddenly felt very tight.

“Take those off,” Eric commanded pointing to Tristan’s shorts.

“I don’t feel like it.” Tristan said.

Eric’s fingers transformed into giant claws, and then he tore at the underwear with surgical precision until they were shreds upon the forest floor.

“Seriously, those were Egyptian cotton, fifty dollars a pair,” Tristan sighed.

“Bill me,” said Eric. He grabbed Tristan and kissed him.

Tristan pushed him away. “This is the most expensive date I’ve ever been on,” he said.

“Who said this was a date?” Eric seized Tristan’s hair and pulled his head back. He kissed him roughly.

Tristan pushed him away. “Easy cowboy. At least buy me dinner first.”

“Shut up,” commanded Eric. He shoved Tristan back against the rock wall and pinned him up against it.

“I thought you said this wasn’t a date,” said Tristan.

“Don’t you ever shut up?” sighed Eric.

“You know how you can shut me up,” said Tristan suggestively.

“Get on your knees,” ordered Eric.

He dropped to his knees and stuck Eric’s enormous cock in his mouth. He sucked greedily while Eric moaned. Tristan slid his mouth up and down on Eric’s shaft while his tongue played around the tip of his lover’s uncircumcised cock.

“That’s it,” shouted Eric. “I’m gonna come so hard.” As Eric grew more excited, he grabbed the back of Tristan’s head and drove Tristan’s mouth deeper onto his cock.

Tristan was thankful that he never had much of a gag reflex. He took Eric’s full shaft from tip to base again and again. Eric howled loudly as he shot his hot cum down Tristan’s throat. Tristan took the entire load easily. Eric shuddered and leaned on Tristan’s shoulders.

“That was fucking amazing,” moaned Eric. He pulled Tristan off his knees and kissed him. “That made you hard didn’t it, baby?” asked Eric as he grabbed Tristan’s erect cock. “Give me a second,” said Eric as he suddenly transformed into his lycan form. He held Tristan’s dick in his hairy, clawed paw when he whipped Tristan around and shoved his massive wolf cock into Tristan’s ass. Eric pumped in and out slowly while his paw slid up and down Tristan’s cock.
