Owning Up (Awakenings 2) is now available!

The Reviews:

Sexy Sirens Book Blog: Outstanding Read. I love Ms. Zurlo’s style. Her flare for the dramatic and her way with words that makes the reader feel every word, every emotion and every nuance of the characters lives.

Dar (Goodreads): I absolutely loved this story, because it took me by surprise…I was right there with them, for the good, the sexy, the bad, the confusion, the love, the caring, the pain, the chemistry. It all swept off the pages and immersed me into the story.

Katey (GR): “Michele Zurlo weaves characters that draw you in and make you care about them, and then she lights their relationships on fire with passion and surprise.”

An offer she couldn’t refuse…

When two handsome brothers offer Samantha Spencer a night of passion, curiosity lands her in their arms. The spirited artist craves a lover with enough energy to satisfy her between the sheets, and these twins deliver a deliciously decadent experience.

Their perfect submissive…

One night with Samantha leaves Alexei and Stefano wanting more—especially the glimpses they catch of the submissive within. But a relationship isn’t a business deal, and sometimes even love isn’t enough. With everything on the line, what are they willing to sacrifice for the ultimate dream?

Warnings: BDSM, ménage, pony play

How about a hot little excerpt?

The door opened, and Stefano stood back to admit us. I followed Lex inside, and I looked around. At one end was a black wooden structure in the shape of an X. I’d never seen a St. Andrew’s cross before. This one was large and imposing. I noted the places where chains dangled. The rest of the room had chairs arranged in rows for observers.

Alexei and Stefano dominated the space even more than the cross did. Ellen retreated to the periphery of the room, a kind of safeword waiting in the wings.

“Remove your shirt, shoes, and pants,” Stefano directed. “And hand them to me.”

I did, not bothering with a striptease. I wasn’t here to titillate them. I was here to experience my first flogging. I removed my shoes and pants first, handing them over to Stefano. He folded my pants and placed them on a chair behind him. He set my shoes on the floor underneath. I shrugged out of my shirt and gave that to him as well.

Lex sucked in a breath, but he didn’t say anything. Stefano folded my shirt and set it on top of my pants. Then the pair faced me.

“Widen your stance a bit,” Alexei said. He moved to stand behind me, and I felt his hands on my waist. “Relax your shoulders, and lower your gaze.”

My gaze wandered down Stefano’s body, drinking in his sexy physique. I stopped when I was staring in the region of his zipper.

“A little more,” Stefano directed.

I dropped it to his feet.

“Don’t move your head,” Alexei said. “Just your eyes.”

I hadn’t realized I’d looked down. I brought my chin up while keeping my gaze on Stefano’s feet.

“Perfect.” Alexei drew a light caress down the center of my back, the sensual touch disappearing as he skipped over the strap of my bra. “Usually we’d begin with you kneeling, but right now, we don’t have control over the cleanliness of the floor.”

I appreciated his thoughtfulness.

“You can talk,” Stefano said. “Ask questions if you have them.”

“I’m okay,” I assured them without lifting my gaze. “I promise I’ll call red or yellow if I’m not.”

They seemed at ease. Alexei guided me to stand in front of the cross, and together, they buckled padded leather cuffs around my wrists and ankles. These were attached to the short chains, and just like that, I found myself bound to a St. Andrew’s cross. I tested the range of motion, and I found I could move a few inches. It wasn’t enough to go anywhere, but it was enough so that I didn’t feel too restricted.

My hair moved as deft hands wrangled it into a knot on top of my head. I froze to keep it from unraveling.

“You can relax. I have a little sister who wrapped me around her finger from the moment she was born, so I have a lot of practice with long hair. It’ll hold.” He ran his hands over my shoulders and down my back.

With my back to them, I wasn’t sure who had spoken.

“Lex or Stef?”

He chuckled and pressed a kiss to my nape. “We’ve stumped her for the first time.”

Another chuckle came from right next to the first one. “If you’re not sure, default to ‘Sir’ as your form of address.”

I wasn’t sure about the use of a title, but it was nice to have something to save me from calling either of my lovers by the wrong name. “Okay, but which one of you is close with your sister?”

“We both are.” Another laugh, and teeth nipped at my ear. “Sammy, we’re going to make you feel really fucking good. Rest your front side against the cross.”

“Yes, Stef.” I did as he asked.

The kiss he was pressing to my shoulder stalled. “How did you know it was me?”

“You always shorten my name. Lex doesn’t.”

He seemed to accept the explanation, which was good because it was all I had to go on right now. The hands on my body multiplied as they touched every inch of my skin from my calves to my neck.

From the periphery of my view, I noted that Ellen was there, my security blanket watching over me while staying out of the way. I closed my eyes and gave myself over to the sensations stimulating my skin. It didn’t take long for them to simultaneously arouse and relax me. I felt alive and awake, yet subdued and ready for anything.

The first swish of the flogger came a second before a soft thud on my shoulder that felt like a light massage. The sensation repeated down my right side, and then it switched to come down my left side. Up and down, they flogged me from shoulder to calf, skipping over my lower back, and it felt pleasant. I found myself relaxing into the rhythm. After a time, the thuds became sharper and harder, like the massage was finally getting serious. I relaxed even more, and pleasure clouded my mind.

The clink of metal on wood roused me. I looked up to find my wrist free. Sir brought my arm down, massaging my shoulder as he did.

I giggled.

A slanted grin quirked his mouth—Alexei’s smile. “What’s funny?”

“You, Lex. A massage after a massage.”

Shock momentarily stole his smile.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” he said. “I guess I’m amazed that you’re half out of your mind, and yet you identified me easily.”

“Your smile,” I explained. “You and Stef smile differently.”

“Mine is sexy. Yours is cocky.” Stefano made that claim as he freed my other arm.

“They’re both sexy and cocky.” They were. The biggest difference was that Lex’s smile was a little higher on the left side. Stefano’s quirked up to the right. “No fighting.”

Stefano draped a robe around my shoulders while Alexei put my arms through the sleeves. “Look at you, giving orders. It’s cute, Sammy, but submissives ask for what they want.”

Captain Jesse Forbes was understandably mistaken in his original assessment of Colonel Mitchell Stone. But his method of gathering that intel has blown up in his face.
Given Addison Longwood’s history, he knows she’ll never offer him a second chance, and working together against a common foe is going to be torture in more ways than one.

Addison hopes for the best but expects the worst as she and her fellow defenders gain reinforcements and take it to the enemy, unaware another betrayal awaits them.
Survivors change sides and lines are blurred—good guys and bad guys wear camo.

 Excerpt:

Stepping right into her space, he grasped her by the upper arms and yanked her close. The familiar feel of his body against her own, his scent, thrust her into memories—the good ones that had temporarily replaced the ones from her childhood—and nearly overwhelmed her common sense.

“Addy, I need to you to listen to me. Please.”
For an instant, she longed to melt into him, to let him kiss her the way he did, to escape from the reality that was to come. To allow what usually followed such a kiss. Her innate sense of survival overrode the impulse. Trust was such a fragile thing… Fool me once. She carried enough shame.

Twisting free, the strength of his fingers likely leaving marks, she put distance between them. “Don’t. Not ever.”
The words, spoken so adamantly, quietly and so coldly, fell between them and rose up like an invisible wall only the two of them could see.

Jesse stilled, staring at her, his whiskey-golden eyes morphing into solid amber. “You’ll never forgive me.”

“There’s nothing to forgive.” She repeated what she’d said to Marcia and would repeat forever, if necessary. “Means to an end. I get it. I’d be stupid to let it get to me. But that doesn’t mean I’ll let you use me again. We can’t afford to allow anything get in the way of what’s coming next. We can’t afford to be … distracted. You have everything you need.”

“This is about what happened to you growing up.”
The wistful, arbitrary feeling about her own needs burned away with white-hot rage. Damn him.

She managed a shrug but then hit back, forgetting her resolve to remain distanced. “Such a clever spy, Forbes. You know all my secrets. Good on you. Hope your real boss appreciates your diligence. Anything for the cause. It’ll look good in your report. Make sure you spell my name right.”

“That’s not—” He growled something under his breath and stalked over to a folding table, kicking a chair out of the way.

“I’m leaving. And don’t pull anything like this again.” She made her weak knees stiffen so her legs could carry her past him.

“It became so much more, Addison.” He turned and spread his hands. “I can’t go back. I wish I could. If I’d known what it could become, I’d have waited. Until you knew who I really was.”

She shut her eyes tightly against a new shard of pain in her chest before gaining the exit, not able to form a coherent response. A terrible sense of loss hollowed her senseless, but she schooled her features.

Broken Love

Broken Love

A SAFE Security Trilogy: Jesse and Jessica 2

Jesse: Four months after Jessica walked away from me, I returned to find that she’d removed herself from my life as much as possible—even from her art studio and storefront on the first floor of the SAFE Security building. She couldn’t run far since she was carrying my child, and one night of playing nice landed me in her bed. While it didn’t repair the broken love between us, it renewed my determination to win her back.

Jessica: Ending up in the back of Jesse’s truck while he was on vacation wasn’t what I’d intended, but it gave us time to talk in a way we hadn’t before. Now that he understood I wasn’t a submissive, maybe we had a chance to be friends and co-parents?

I just wish I could stop yearning for his touch.

Excerpt:

She sat up as I came in, revealing that she wore my shirt. “You were gone a long time.” Her lips pressed together, probably quelling the urge to ask where I’d been.

“I called Dean.”

“Oh.” Her gaze flickered away. “I’m finished in the bathroom. I used one of your disposable razors for my legs. I hope you don’t mind.”

This woman was completely at odds with the portrait Dean had in his head. To reaffirm that idea, I took a chance on Dean’s question. If she wasn’t on SAFE Security’s insurance, I needed to know she was covered somewhere. If she wasn’t, I’d change that situation immediately.

“Jessica, Dean said that he tried to cut off your health care by firing you from SAFE Security.”

“Let’s not talk about any of that unpleasantness. I’ve landed on my feet, okay?” She rolled to her other side and pulled the covers up, signaling that she was finished with the conversation.

Nothing got to me faster than an uncooperative Jessica. I sat on the edge of her bed and eased the covers from over her face. “Who is paying for your insurance?”

Her chest heaved a sigh. “You are.” She didn’t meet my gaze.

I was meticulous about my bank accounts. I hadn’t seen an increase in money flowing to health insurance. Actually, my monthly premium cost had dropped a few dollars. “How?”

She chewed at her bottom lip in a rare show of nerves. “Maybe you should ask David? It was his idea.”

Now my curiosity was piqued. I peeled back the covers and lifted her until she sat up and faced me. “Darlin’, I’d like an explanation.”

“We’re married.”

Shock that she would marry anyone was superseded only by the fact of who she claimed to have married. How the fuck could she marry David? He was already married. “How? Did he divorce Brea and not tell anyone?”

She winced. “No, I’m married to you.”

Drawing On Love–Now Available!

Drawing On Love

(Mercenary Hearts 1)

Lessons I learned growing up:

1) Take care of yourself. Anyone else will let you down.

2) People come and go. Mostly, they go. It’s best not to get too close.

3) Lying and stealing are acceptable survival techniques.

4) Hide anything important.

Determined to stand on her own, Jessica Zinn embarks on a journey that will bring her face-to-face to a past she’s forgotten and force her to confront the demons she still carries. Through it all, Jesse’s unwavering love is a beacon that inspires hope in her darkest hours—but is it enough?

Excerpt

He peered into my eyes and stroked his fingers through my hair. The blue of his irises had darkened, and a flame danced behind them. Suddenly I was seized with the desire to draw him, to capture by my own hand the wonder, need, and possessiveness I recognized there.

He leaned in to kiss me, but I pressed both hands to his shoulders. “Wait. Don’t move.”

“You don’t give the orders, my Brat. Ask for what you want.”

I didn’t want to argue with him. “Ten seconds. Please, Jesse.”

Granting my request, he froze. He watched the way I studied him, noting the faint lines at the corners of his eyes and the smattering of gray mixed with the light brown at his temples. I memorized the flecks of steel and the way light and lighter blues blended in his eyes. He allowed exactly ten seconds, and then his lips captured mine. Bypassing teasing altogether, he annihilated any resistance that might have cropped up due to my stubborn nature.

Excerpt:

Knowing the majority of her response was hormone-fueled did nothing to  mitigate the meltdown. How hard had she held herself against the news until now, sharing with no one but him? Forgoing the acceptance and excitement of her friends and family… Doing the right thing, notifying the father first. She sobbed and
choked until she thought her throat would tear and her lungs collapse, her cheeks raw with the deluge. Her baby… She pressed a hand against her abdomen, whispering a heartfelt reassurance. Not about you, sweetheart. I love you.
It felt like hours but was, in reality, a few short minutes before she wrestled back her composure, albeit as a soggy wreck of exhaustion.
Impossible. She’d sorted out the reasoning—and ensuing rejection—behind his flat comment in short order. But it wasn’t impossible. He was capable regardless of what he believed. The tiny seed in her belly was living proof.
But it didn’t matter. He thought she’d come to him, pregnant with another man’s child, to cadge… She couldn’t bear to think of what he thought of her. His opinion didn’t matter either. Asshole. Fumbling for a wad of tissues, she mopped up whatremained of her makeup and took a shuddering breath, pushing any thought of Elliot Godwin from her head.
A tap on the window drew a muffled shriek as she started, turning to stare at his unwelcome bulk hunched over her little car, his handsome face only inches away. His silvery eyes were narrowed, cold and impenetrable, not at all like the turbulent wash of emotion when he’d been as deep inside her as any man could be in a woman. Planting their child.
As emotionally drained as she was, she couldn’t help the
faint shiver of that arousing memory before dispatching it. Stupid hormones.
She eased the window down a notch. “What?”
His gaze took in her face and she knew what he saw. She never cried prettily, but then she rarely cried. Make that never. Tears were for the weak. He would know that.
“Are you all right?”
Like he cared. She was a slut, remember? Well, maybe not—Elliot didn’t judge, at least about consenting adults sexing things up. So, what then? What was a woman called who tried to stick a guy with a kid that wasn’t his? Something far worse in his eyes, for sure.
“I’m fine.” She whirred the window back up and threw the vehicle into gear.
With cautious regard to his proximity, she drove forward and then guided the car back onto the pavement, ignoring his tall form in the mirror.

 Excerpt
He placed one of the throw pillows on his lap. “Come on up, Sugar.”
This was his favorite position for spanking me. It was comfortable for us both. I arranged myself across his lap with my knees underneath me and my ass lifted. The pillow he’d put on his lap took some of the stress off my knees and allowed me to maintain my position longer.
Immediately I felt the roughness of his palm against my posterior. It moved in circles, stimulating me in unexpected ways. Normally before a spanking I was a bundle of nerves, but not this time. Or maybe I was strung so tightly that the slightest touch was magnified. By the time his forays spread to my upper thighs, the small moan in my throat deepened and defied containment.
He started lightly, warming up his hand and my bottom. Soon the force doubled, and doubled again. As I cried out, I became aware of tears wetting my cheeks. Blows rained across both cheeks and my upper thighs. A few caught my pussy, and each time, my ass lifted higher to give him better access.
My ass was on fire, but I didn’t want him to stop. I begged him for more, and he didn’t let up. Now the blows centered more and more around my pussy. All of a sudden, a climax detonated in my core. Sounds of pleasure mixed with misery. Tears dripped from my eyes, and the languor of orgasm calmed my insides.
Sir picked me up and turned me around. He wrapped a soft blanket around me and cradled me in his warm embrace. “You did wonderfully, Sugar. That was a beautiful climax. Thank you for giving yourself to me, for trusting me to make sure you got what you needed. I love you so much.”
He talked to me, whispers and murmurs of praise and affection, until my sobs had quieted. I clung to him, my anchor in this maelstrom.
FORGING LOVE
Book 2.5
Jessica Zinn: Rebuilding my life hasn’t been easy, and I’m far from done. I have some habits I can’t seem to shake, like picking pockets, forgery, and manipulating men to get what I want. I don’t want to manipulate Jesse, but the lines have blurred, and I can’t separate my honest emotions from my bad habits.
Jesse Foraker: I fell in love with Jessica the first time I saw her, and I’ll wait as long as it takes for her to be ready to love me back.
The time has come for Jesse to make his move, but will Jessica’s love be the real thing, or a forgery?

Excerpt:
On the far end of the fire escape, Jessica stared at something in her hands, and I realized what had happened. “Jessica, did you open this window?”
She started, put her hands over her heart, and closed her eyes. “Christ, Jesse. You scared the shit out of me.”
“You set off an alarm.” I turned to Dean and Frankie. “Jessica decided to take the fire escape instead of the elevator.”
Frankie scowled. I knew that look, and I felt the need to protect Jessica. My entire stance altered as I puffed out my chest and crossed my arms.
Dean put his hand on Frankie’s arm. “Let’s let Jesse deal with this. Maybe look into getting Jessica her own access code. At least then we’d know it’s her and not Brea coming and going.”
I entered a code on my phone to deactivate the threat warning, and then I poked my head back out the window. My breath turned to fog in the air. “It’s cold. Why don’t you come in? We’ll let you use the stairs or the elevator free of charge.”
She turned away from me. “I’m okay.”
Though she wasn’t wearing a jacket, she did not appear to be suffering from the cold. Reasoning that she probably wouldn’t shoot me, I shed my bulletproof vest and climbed out the window. As I came closer, she edged farther away until the railing got in her way. “Don’t jump on my account.”
A pathetic laugh or cough struggled to be heard. Whichever it was, she squelched it before it got far. “I’m not suicidal.”
“So you’re standing on a third-floor fire escape without a jacket in winter because?”
“I want a cigarette.”

PG Excerpt

Tru wasn’t afraid of death. It happened to everyone eventually, and it was what you did with the moments between then and now that mattered. She climbed onto the edge of the basket. From this height, she knew she could get at least a ten count out of it, but the daredevil part of her wanted to push for longer. “I count twenty, and then I throw the pilot chute.”

Well aware of her love of adventure, Elvis shook his head and chuckled. “Ten, fourteen if you want to push it, but don’t go longer than that. We’re not that high up. You have an altimeter, so don’t forget to use it. Don’t push past 250 feet.. If you’re panicking, it’s okay to pull it early, better to be safe than a pancake. If you really open up in your batsuit, you’ll definitely get 10 seconds of flight time.” He pointed to a field in the distance. Two trucks, tiny like toys, were parked on the road next to it. “James is waiting for you there.”

As she threw a leg over the edge, Tru winked at Elvis. “See you on the other side.” She jumped straight out, careful to keep her eyes on the horizon so that she didn’t become disoriented. It was different than skydiving from an airplane. The wall of air was missing, and she found that she loved the complete lack of sound. She spread her wings. Wind whistled past her ears, but it was the kind that enveloped her in silence and wrapped her in a singular cocoon. This mindless nothingness, these moments of pure delight, was the sweet bliss she spent her life chasing. She was gloriously adrift.

Ten seconds might not seem like a lot of time, but with the absence of everything, it stretched to an eternity. Even the ground rising up to meet her took on a surreal quality. It was deaf and blind, shades of green and brown that meant nothing and everything all at once. It was breathless beauty, earthy and elemental in its stunning simplicity. And it was the void, that great, black nothingness where she stored her most precious parts. She lived a lifetime in those ten seconds, but a check of her altimeter showed that she’d run out of time.

Reluctantly she pulled the pilot chute to open her parachute. With a tremendous whoosh, it deployed, jerking her from the freefall and delaying the moment of death.  The ground still rushed at her, but it came slower, and it seemed suddenly real.
