Excerpt #1:

Giving her a half smile, I tried to move our conversation forward. “Can I get one of those baguettes?” I pulled a skirt from my bag. Evelyn and I were in business together, sort of. She made beautiful and functional clothing, and I modeled it so that people would want it for themselves. When I was little, my dreams hadn’t included becoming a fashion model, but that’s what I was. Without electricity or anything approaching technology, my Computer Engineering degree wasn’t going to do crap for me.

DragonK3500Cassie eyed the long skirt. I’d tie-dyed it red myself from crushed beetle shells. Those things were truly everywhere, even in a parallel dimension. They probably wandered through wormholes regularly.

“If you ask nicely.”

My head jerked around to the source of the voice before my brain processed the speaker. Turning, I found myself face-to-face with Cosmo. His jet black hair fell to his shoulders, curling slightly on the ends, and his black eyes regarded me intently. He had a strong jaw and sharp nose that worked to make him more imposing, yet it didn’t detract from his attractiveness.

He didn’t smile as he stood with his arms crossed and his weight leaning mostly on his left side. Our eyes met, and I quickly looked away. Yeah, I was a chicken. I wasn’t going to give sparks a chance to jump between us because I knew I couldn’t handle what he offered. I sidled a glance at Niall, but I turned my attention to Cassie and gave her the skirt. “Next time.”

She opened her mouth to say something, but Niall snaked his hand around her upper arm and jerked her to his side, hissing something for her ears only.

While Cosmo stared at me, Finley came into the store. He grinned when he saw me. “Laurel, you’ve been avoiding me.”

It was true. Though I was friends and business partners with his mother—Evelyn considered them all her son—I made sure my visits to her didn’t overlap with Jonathan’s. To my knowledge, Jonathan had been avoiding me as well. I’m sure if he wanted to see me, Evelyn would have made it happen by now. She wasn’t our matriarch for no reason.

I managed a small smile. “How’ve you been?”

His smile slipped a little. “I miss you. I thought we were going to be friends.”

I really didn’t know Cosmo or Finley, but they wouldn’t see it that way. “I told Jonathan we could continue to be friends, but he hasn’t been around.”

“It’s particularly hard for him to see you. If you reject Cosmo or me, you’re rejecting aspects of him, not the whole of me. Him. Us.”

Laughing at his pronoun slipup wasn’t something I could bring myself to do. Even he couldn’t decide if they were separate people or not.

He touched my hair lightly, bringing my attention back to him. “There’s still hope. That’s my point.”

There was no hope. “I don’t even know you.”

Excerpt #1:

2DK2sz500When Mom tried to get up, I grabbed her arm and forced her to sit still. My mother was nobody’s maid, and Laurel was capable of serving herself. A food-filled plate waited for her on the counter. Laurel tossed her long, sun-bleached hair over her shoulder, grabbed her plate, and joined us at the table.

“How did it go today?” Laurel flashed a friendly smile at my mom.

“We sold almost everything,” Mom said.

“No thanks to you,” I added.

“Jonathan!” Mom hissed, probably appalled at my lack of manners.

“She took off and didn’t do shit to help. We provide her with food and a bed, and she does nothing to help with that effort.” The apple-cinnamon bread turned sour in my mouth.

Laurel’s shirt had slid sideways, exposing one shoulder. It was a new design of my mother’s, and we’d sold out of them today. If she wasn’t so annoying, I might have noticed and appreciated the smoothness of her supple, tan skin. The sight of her sexy shoulder might have stirred me, so I focused on what I disliked about her. Laurel didn’t seem fazed by my bad mood. Her grin grew. “I modeled the shirt, Mr. Grouchy. I walked around all day, showing it off and telling people where to get it. I even approached a few of the Zmaj ladies. Did we make any headway there?”

Mom tilted her head and half nodded. “They need a certain fabric that is difficult to obtain. It works with their shifting abilities, appearing when they’re in human form and disappearing when they’re in dragon form. It doesn’t rip or become distorted. I’ve worked with it a few times, but my Zmaj never let me do anything out of the ordinary with it.”

Laurel nodded. “I bet if you ask Cassie, she’ll get you some. Her Zmaj seem to do anything she wants.”

“You sound jealous,” I said. “Did you leave your Zmaj because they wouldn’t do what you wanted?”

“Nope,” she returned smugly, her dark eyes sparkling and setting off something inside me. “I left because I’m not ready to settle down with men who inject venom into me to ensure my compliance.”

A flame lit in my belly—ignited by her look, not her words—and traveled up my spine. The heat threatened to overwhelm me, and so I gulped my water. My mother leaped to her feet. “Jonathan, are you all right?”

“Fine.” I waved her away, but she pushed my hand down and felt my forehead.

“You’re burning up.”

I felt like I was on fire. Across the table, Laurel merely smirked. I ignored her and concentrated on not burping smoke. Pain knifed through my midsection, and I doubled over, toppling to the floor. Laurel and my mother moved the table and bench out of the way, and as their shadows disappeared, I saw that my fingers had become talons. Horrified, I clutched my fist to my stomach and waited for the spasms to pass. This wasn’t the first time I’d had an attack of this kind, but this was by far worse than any of the others. Never before had my hand morphed. Deep down I knew Illion was right, but I refused to think about that right now. I desperately didn’t want to be a fucking—heartless, soulless—dragon.

After a time, the pain faded, as did the heat. Thankfully, my mother ceased trying to make me move or talk to her. Exhausted, I let my mother and Laurel help me to bed, where I immediately fell into a deep sleep.

Dragon Kisses #1 (Cassie and Niall)

Blurb:

banner rough1Waking up in a strange barn was just the tip of the iceberg. Cassie and Niall find themselves transported to another world, one full of dragon shifters who want to possess them. Cassie is claimed by Illion, an electric blue dragon who shifts into five hulking men, and Niall is claimed by Wynn, a lime green dragon who shifts into two men and two women.

The Zmaj feed from the sexual energy of humans, and finding a cache of five in an abandoned barn is a momentous occasion. Convincing them to stay and protecting them from the Inamanida, their sworn enemy, is another task altogether. And falling in love? Zmaj don’t do that.

When Cassie runs away, Illion is forced to confront his prejudices and his brethren in order to save her from a fate worse than death.

Excerpt 1:

DK 1 Draft“Cassie.” The deep voice calling my name belonged to the dragon man standing next to the one who had watched over us. “Come.”

Was it wrong that his commanding tone had me close to coming? Nora’s assurance came from, I knew, deep inside my psyche. After all, in a dream all the characters were aspects of myself. Niall was my caution, and Nora was my sense of adventure. I pried myself from Niall’s hold. “We’ll be fine.”

Even facing the weirdest situation and the worst odds, I was an optimist. Before Niall could process what I was doing, I left the safety of the group. Taking those first steps toward a new life was easy when I knew I’d soon wake up in the safety and comfort of my bed, and I figured nothing was to be gained by huddling against a barn. Plus, this would make one hell of a diary entry when I woke up, and it would help keep my mind off Chad, the jerkweasel who’d dumped me yesterday.

Laurel and Oliver followed me. Both of them seemed to be dazed and confused. The blue-haired men morphed into a dragon, and we climbed onto its back. The three of us fit easily. I sat forward of the wings. Oliver situated himself behind me, and Laurel wrapped her arms around his waist.

“Hold onto the scales,” Nora shouted.

I slid my hands around the edges of two blue scales. Each was a large as a dinner plate, but they had ridges on the top which were perfect for holding. One leap, and it took off.

Flying on the back of a dragon was unlike anything I’d experienced. My tummy fluttered from the quick ascent—or from that niggling bit of sense that told me I wasn’t playing it safe, and wind whipped through my hair. I had the feeling the dragon was flying slower than normal, and I appreciated his restraint. Any faster, and I might have freaked out.

Or not. Who could be afraid of heights or strangers in such a wonderful fantasy?

Kiss Me Goodnight

Kiss Me Goodnight Cover

I’m Lacey Hallem, and I have a few secrets. These aren’t them: I wash my hands a lot and lie when I’m stressed. Also, I have horrible taste in men. That’s how I knew Dylan was trouble the first time I saw him…

Life can be challenging for Lacey, especially when things don’t come in sets of six, but she’s smart and funny and able to keep her demons at bay–most of the time. She might have sensed trouble when she set eyes on Dylan, a delectable musician in a vintage T-shirt, but that doesn’t stop her from thinking about him, or spending more and more time in his company.

Enter Thomas. Wealthy, handsome, and completely adoring of Lacey (flaws and all), he’s everything a man should be. So why can’t she convince her heart to fall in love?

Prepare to be swept up in Michele Zurlo’s emotional and compelling story of learning to trust yourself, facing the past, and finding strength you never knew you had.

Praise for Kiss Me Goodnight:

“Funny, quirky, dramatic, musical (there is a band and lots of awesome lyrics!), and romantic…deep and intense in parts” –Crazy Four Books

“With its unconventional heroine…, Ms. Zurlo has crafted a compelling read. [This] first person narrative [gives] great insight into Lacey, …an unrepentant heroine whose antics at times left me smiling.” –The Scarf Princess

“I found myself captivated by this interesting and unique love story…If you are like me and know the wonderful Michele Zurlo based on her “kinkier” stories, you will be blown away by this beautifully written and endearing tale.” –Booklover Sue

Here’s a taste! Eleven important quotes from Kiss Me Goodnight:

  1. My name is Lacey Hallem, and it’s been sixty-seven minutes since my last lie.
  2. He oozed sexy badness, and whoever says they don’t have a weakness for that has a serious case of the pants-on-fire syndrome.
  3. I’d walked out on two men in one day. Both encounters had left me tingling, and neither was likely to result in anything. Hell of a Monday.
  4. Fake emotion isn’t difficult. It’s the real stuff that bewilders me.
  5. Lying was easy. The truth was hard.
  6. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t regularly check him out. I couldn’t help it. When that much hotness is thrust into your face, I dare you not to look.
  7. I’d finally met the perfect man, and he wasn’t in a position to make any fairy tales come true.
  8. Even though I had a serious crush on Dylan, I couldn’t seem to look away from Junior’s penetrating hazel gaze. Hopefully he hadn’t come over to murder me.
  9. His hand paused on my ankle, and he lifted his gaze to meet mine. I expected an apology, but all I got was a bit of a cocky smirk.
  10. From that moment on, Alice was dead. I was Lacey. Always and irrevocably Lacey.
  11. I tasted his lips once to banish the misery. Twice to obliterate the pity. Three times because I loved him, and I was too tired to fight it.

Excerpt 1:

He tried to move past her, but she reached out and snagged his shirt. She held the flannel material in her fist, the small buttons digging into her palm. “Blade, be reasonable. Maria called us, so why would you think we’re trying to trick her? Or you?”

He crowded her, pushing her back until the edge of the desk pressed into her upper thighs, and then he kept going. She had to release her hold on his shirt to brace herself against the table or she’d fall backward. Blade followed, pressing his hard body against her softer one, and resting his palms on the desk on either side of her. “How much do you charge for your services?”

The urge to take a swing at him was almost overwhelming. Fury overrode any fear she might feel. “Are you threatening me?”

His eyes roamed from her lips, down to her heaving chest, and back up. “I don’t take kindly to people who take advantage of my sister’s good nature or her unfounded fears. Now answer my fucking question.”

Oh, damn. He was so sexy when he was angry. Emmaline pressed her thighs together and licked her lips. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

He got in her face and growled. “Don’t play games with me. I’m not some stupid guy who’s a sucker for a pretty face, sexy legs, and a spectacular rack. You came all the way here from Michigan, and you’re planning to stay a while. How much are you charging my sister for your time?”

She wanted to answer, but her brain had short-circuited. His dark chocolate eyes mesmerized her, as did the waves of furious passion emanating from him. The stable and office fell away, and she had the sense she was traveling through time. The way he held her became intimate instead of threatening, and she felt her body softening, yielding to his touch. He kissed her, his lips warm and insistent, stealing a moment of forbidden pleasure.

His hand cradled her head, controlling the kiss and holding her as if she were precious. His tongue invaded her mouth, and dizzying feelings erupted in her core, the likes of which she’d never experienced. When he broke away, she gasped for air, but he wasn’t finished. No, his lips grazed her neck and chin, marking a damp path to her ear. He licked the shell and nipped at her lobe, and she moaned when his lips found a sensitive spot just below her ear. Seeking an anchor, she grasped his shoulders. When he pulled her closer and pressed his body to hers, she melted into his embrace. Only when his questing hand lifted the hem of her shirt did she shove him away.

The spell broken, Emmaline gazed at Blade. Her heart pounded wildly, and she was more than a little shocked. He blinked a few times, bewildered, and then he stepped back.

Emmaline smoothed her skirt and tried to step past him. The curious turn of events had left her very confused. His hand shot out, and he grabbed her arm. “Wait. You never answered me.”

“Right.” She exhaled and closed her eyes. Their exchange seemed so long ago. “How much am I charging Maria? Nothing.”

“Liar. It costs you in time and resources to be here. How much, Emmy?”

She shook her head, but she didn’t look at him because she didn’t want to chance drowning in his bottomless eyes. “I do this because I want to help people, not to make money. I charge nothing. We usually stay at a hotel, but there aren’t any around here, and Maria said we could stay in an open room. This is costing Maria one room and meals. That’s all. Please let go of me.”

His grip slackened. She pulled free and fled the stable.

Kissing Bandits Weekend Teaser #released #michelezurlo

Re/Leased

Honoring a promise he made to his late mother, David Eastridge, part owner of SAFE Security, returns home one final time—to help his father find the culprit responsible for embezzling three million dollars from his company. It should be an easy job—his father already has a suspect in mind.

After a series of tragic events that robbed her of a father and put her sister in a coma, Autumn Sullivan was forced to take on several jobs just to get by. She’s an accounting assistant by day, an occasional service Domme on the weekend, and a thief-for-hire by night.

David’s strategy of hiring Autumn—as a submissive—backfires when he finds himself enchanted by her sense of humor and playful attitude. Determined to prove her innocence, he enlists the help of Malcolm Legato and Agent Keith Rossetti to dig deeper. This enigmatic submissive is openly hiding things from him. Her secretive nature and the bread crumbs she drops about her past don’t add up—not even when he assigns Jesse Foraker, his SAFE Security buddy—to tail her and search her apartment. None of them are prepared for what the FBI uncovers.

Falling in love wasn’t in the plan, but David makes her believe that she isn’t doomed to live a solitary life. Plunged into a world of lies and espionage—with a serial killer after her—Autumn is forced to come to terms with her past if she is to have any hope of a future with David.

Warnings: BDSM party games, sex toys, bondage, flogging, spanking, and a trip to the beach

Excerpt 1:

David regarded Autumn regretfully. “I didn’t bring ropes. Maybe next time.”

“Here.” Jordan appeared out of nowhere. He handed a coil to David. “You can use mine. Amy’s not one for public play. Yet.”

Autumn fingered the rope. The silk caressed her back. “I’m game if you are.” David didn’t respond, so she lifted her arms. “It’s okay if this is your first time. Everybody’s a virgin once.”

“It’s been a while.” David untied the knot holding the coil together. “You’re going to need to be patient.”

She encouraged with a smile. “I’ve got all evening.”

Jordan took a few steps back to give them privacy. David worked quietly and with methodical meticulousness.

released 500Autumn mostly watched his face, but her gaze was repeatedly drawn to the way his shoulders and arms moved. Muscles bunched and elongated, and the deeper he concentrated, the more he sucked the corner of his upper lip. Autumn was tempted to offer to suck it for him. Instead she chose to say something innocuous. “You’re cute when you’re concentrating.”

He glanced up, surprised, and his knot-weaving fingers stuttered.

She raised her eyebrows. “Let me guess—nobody’s ever told you that you were cute before?”

“You’re not at all what I expected.”

“You wanted a leggy blonde with huge fake boobs?”

He exhaled a laugh. “No.”

“Botox lips and cherry red lipstick?”

“Hell, no. I just didn’t think you’d be so forward.”

“Ahh.” She sighed knowingly. “I’m not demure, and that’s a turn off.”

“Not at all. It’s refreshing. I like that you’re lighthearted and that you feel free to tease and flirt. I’m having fun, and I didn’t think I would.” He went back to looping rope.

Kissing Bandits Weekend Teaser #redefined #michelezurlo

Re/Defined

Blurb:

redefined FB1Amy Markevich nurses fantasies about dominant agent Jordan Monaghan, but she knows they’ll never come true. He’s younger, to-die-for handsome, and so very different from her. She settles for friendship and dreaming from afar, even when he agrees to show her the platonic side of submission.

Jordan has always known what he wanted, and as he gets to know Amy, he’s convinced that she’s the complete package. Her sexy curves and passionate nature contrast sharply with her childlike innocence and exuberant joie de vivre. She calls to him—body and soul.

Just as he’s about to reveal that he’s a Daddy Dom and that he suspects Amy harbors an inner “little” and a submissive side, Amy witnesses a gruesome murder, and a terrorist organization puts her on top of their most-wanted list.

As they are forced to run for their lives from this unexpected enemy, Jordan helps Amy to accept her true nature—as a little—and to redefine everything she thought she knew about belonging to him.

Warnings: anal play, mini-golf, bondage, sensory play, suction cups, and laser tag.

Excerpt:

Did she want steak or lasagna, or did she want to let Jordan tie her up and do things that belonged to the mysterious Sensory Play category? Amy frowned as she lined up her shot for the sixteenth hole. He was putting no pressure on her at all. After they’d finished their ice cream, he hadn’t brought it up. She felt his touch on her hip, pushing it into alignment to improve her aim. Relaxing, she let him correct her stance. “Thanks.”

“You’re getting better. By the end of the course, you’ll have it down.”

It had occurred to her that she could continue doing it wrong just so he’d keep touching her, but then, she reasoned, he’d eventually give up, and she’d still be doing it wrong. She hit the ball a little too hard, and it sailed past the cup. “Darn.”

redefined500x750“Not bad. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You came close, and that’s an improvement.” He lined up his shot and sank it neatly.

“Would we negotiate everything beforehand? Plan out every detail?”

“No.” He didn’t pretend to not know she’d changed the topic. “If you had any experience, then yes, we could do that. For this, I’d try a few different things so you could decide what you do and don’t like.”

She thought about that as she tapped her ball into the cup. “What if I don’t like it?”

He retrieved their balls. “You’re familiar with the concept of safewords.”

She didn’t have the sense he’d asked a question, more that he wanted her to explain what she knew. “I know the stoplight system. Red halts everything. Yellow pauses the scene for communication, adjustments, and bathroom breaks.” Once she’d come to accept that the BDSM lifestyle wasn’t a form of abuse, her sister had opened up about many of nitty-gritty details. And she’d heard the guys talk about being dominant. They took the safety precaution aspects of it very seriously.

“So you’ll have safewords. I’ll be talking to you a lot so you’ll know you’re not alone.”

It hadn’t occurred to her that he would leave her alone when she was in a vulnerable position. She set her ball on the tee, lined up the shot, and took a swing. It rounded the bank perfectly, bounced twice from the edges of the narrowed curve that linked the two parts of this tricky hole together, avoided the waterfall, and went straight into the cup. Her draw dropped. She looked at Jordan, her eyes so wide she felt they might pop out. “You saw that, right?”

He wore a wide grin. “Your stance was perfect.”

Dropping her putter, she clapped her hands over her heart. “A hole in one. I never thought I’d be able to do that.”

He hugged her with one arm and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “You can do anything you set your mind to, little one.”

“Yes.” She didn’t necessarily agree with him, but she was no longer talking about her amazing feat. “I want to try it with you.”

“All right. Let’s finish this, and then I’ll take you to my place.”

Re/Claimed

Blurb:

reclaimed FB1Layla’s wicked fantasies had already caused problems that left her with deep emotional scars, so when she got a second chance to live them out, she insisted on strict rules and boundaries.

Dustin agreed to abide by Layla’s rules because that’s the only way he could have her, but after a while, it wasn’t enough. He wanted the whole woman—the impulsive, stubborn parts as well as her sweet, generous side—and so he insists she give him a fair chance to prove he’s worthy of her love. He’s over the moon when she agrees to date him, even if she insists on a vanilla relationship.

Complicating matters is the return of her abusive ex-Master, a kidnapped child, and a human trafficking ring that’s been targeting teens from the community center Layla runs. When the investigation turns up nothing, Layla takes desperate measures that put her and Dustin in danger.

In Re/Claimed (Doms of the FBI 3), Michele Zurlo delivers another hot, heartwrenching, and stunning BDSM romantic suspense tale.

Warnings: D/s, kidnap/breaking-and-entering fantasy play, impact play, bondage, spanking, anal play, electric play, and some seriously sexy kinky footwear

Excerpt

Dustin wanted to be her boyfriend. He wanted to date her. Go steady. Be an item. It seemed both juvenile and momentous.

After Brodie, the man she’d thought would fill the roles of friend, lover, and Master, had proven to be not at all the person she’d thought he was, she had sworn off dating a Dom. The liberties he’d taken—and forced her to consent to—still gave her nightmares. Memories snuck up on her at the oddest  times, battering her with intense waves of humiliation that stole her confidence and sense of self.

Yes, Dustin was a good man—much too good for her. Once he found out about the things she’d allowed Brodie to make her do, he would gently break her heart and run as far as he could go.

Reclaimed5002Dustin’s palm pressed against hers, warm and firm, tangible proof that she was about to take a step forward. Right now, she had paused in a figurative half-step, her foot hovering uncertainly in the air. Once she put her foot down and shifted her weight, the ground behind her would fall away, leaving her forever teetering on the precipice.

Full disclosure. She should warn him of the consequences to his actions.

“Dustin, if you’re serious about this, I think you should know that I date vanilla.”

He didn’t move. She lifted her gaze from the floor to find him staring at her curiously. Was she nervous? Utterly. She stared back, her manner appropriately sober.

“Why?”

No need to go into the details or give voice to uncomfortable memories. “BDSM scenes are fun, but they’re not what I’m looking for in a long-term relationship. If I ever settle down, I want a husband, not a Master.” Nobody was ever going to order or coerce her into doing anything she didn’t want to do. Not again.

He brushed his thumb back and forth over her wrist, evidence that he was both considering and bothered by her assertion. “Can’t you have both?”

Once she’d thought it possible. Brodie had proven her theory wrong. “No. A husband is a partner. A Master is the boss. That’s exciting, but impractical for the long haul. I just think you should know my views on the issue before you decide to change lanes.” Silence fell in a heavy, oppressive blanket, but she didn’t attempt to alleviate it with mindless chatter, further explanation, or false assurances.

Finally his head bobbed a brief nod, indicating he’d arrived at a conclusion. “So you’re thinking that we’ll eventually get married?”

But Kat, one of the only women he’s allowed into his heart, isn’t what he expected. She’s no pushover. She demands more from him than anybody ever has, and he finds himself wanting to be the man she thinks he is.

A Night Owl Reviews Top Pick: “This is a great read…The relationship was real and honest, and it was fun seeing Malcolm and Darcy! A highly recommended read!”

The Romance Reviews Top Pick: “RE/PAIRED is an awesome read which gave me some sleepless nights, because it was so hard to put down. I wanted to lose myself in the erotic play between Keith and Kat. The way he caressed her body with the flogger, the way he enveloped her in ropes, the endless orgasms she endured from his hands… The storyline is erotic, rich and entertaining. The dialogue is interesting and kept the force of the plot moving along, and I liked that I was able to see their relationship grow and mature into something beautiful.”

Excerpt:

repaired500Katrina snatched at the stack of panties that was supposed to be on the left side of her top drawer, but she came up empty. The tears blurring her vision brimmed over and burned hot on her cheeks. She’d been stupid to think he wanted this as much as she did. Malcolm had told her several times that Keith was emotionally damaged, that he’d probably never settle down because he didn’t believe he deserved happiness. She’d rolled her eyes at her brother’s dire prediction, but now she saw the truth of his statement. Keith went out of his way to alienate anyone who got too close.

Well, she couldn’t let him do that to her. She whirled around to give him a further piece of her mind, only to find him standing right behind her. He wrapped his arms around her and held her so tight she thought he might crack her ribs.

“I’m sorry. I never wanted this to happen.”

She tilted her face up, though it took some doing to get him to ease his hold enough for her to move. “Keith, just because we disagree doesn’t mean it has to end. I want you to train me, not somebody else.”

The relief in his expression was immeasurable. “I’m not used to such a feisty sub.”

She thought he probably selected subs who capitulated to his every demand because he thought that was the kind of woman he craved. While she knew he wanted a submissive, she also knew he needed someone who wouldn’t let him get away with being a jerk. He needed to be with someone he liked and respected. If she could just keep him around long enough, she could get him to see that.

However, she wasn’t naive enough to give voice to her analysis. “Yeah, well, you needed to spice things up anyway.”

He kissed her thoroughly. It was a comforting clash of tongues and lips, a reacquainting of what they’d almost ended and a confirmation that they hadn’t. When he pulled away, she rested her cheek against his chest. “I need coffee and food before we have any more drama. I’m not cut out for this kind of precaffeine excitement.”

Excerpt:

rebound500by750She paused at a door three-quarters of the way down the hall. Her gaze fell to the floor. After the awkwardness had passed, the rest of the night had gone well. He had kept the conversation on innocuous topics and had learned a lot about her relationship with Victor Snyder. The prick had her thoroughly and completely snowed. She considered him a friend and a benefactor.

He hooked his finger under her chin and encouraged her to meet his gaze. When she complied, he rewarded her with a smile. Without a doubt, she was one responsive submissive. Yataines had trained her well.

He cupped the side of her face and traced his thumb over her eyebrow. Adjusting the position of his hand, he repeated the caress along her lower lip. She trembled a bit, but she clearly awaited his command. His earlier intention had been an impulsive act of  affection. It had taken all his willpower to keep his cock from saluting her submissiveness.

“I had a nice time tonight, Darcy. Thank you for making this trip worthwhile.”

Her eyes widened a bit, and he knew she wanted to ask if he’d decided against seeing her again now that he’d found out about some of her baggage.

He replayed his caress of her lip. Suddenly he needed to taste her lips more than anything in the world. “Can I kiss you?”
She began to nod, but she caught herself in time. She swallowed and licked her lips. “Yes, I’d like that.”

Malcolm had never once taken the trust of a submissive lightly. Part of him wanted to play the gentleman and leave her alone. A larger part of him needed to know the flavor and texture of her kiss. He recognized the blurring of the line between his cover identity and his real self, and he couldn’t keep from crossing it.

He feathered his lips over hers, a reverent caress that teased a small sigh from her. That tiny sound proved to be his undoing. He traced the seam of her lips with his tongue, and she  opened for him. He cradled her head with one hand to hold her close, and he snaked the other around her waist to press her body closer.

She moaned and leaned into him as he directed with the pressure of his hand on her back. He tasted her lips and teeth. He sampled the roof of her mouth and tangled his tongue with hers. A piece of his heart he’d never before used came to life. It beat a furious staccato rhythm he felt echoed in her chest. Blood rushed to his cock. He thrust a knee between her legs and ground against her.

She mewled, and her fingers dug into his shoulders. Inflamed with her flavor, he moved his lips to sample her neck. She moaned and threw her head back.

The sharp crack of it hitting the door brought Malcolm back to his senses. He had shoved her against the door, and he had ravaged her with everything in his arsenal. He released her abruptly, keeping one hand close in case she needed more than the door to hold her up.

She gazed up at him, her eyes heavy-lidded with desire and blurred by shock. She took a deep, ragged breath and pushed away from the door.

Malcolm ran a shaky hand through his hair. “I’m sorry. You consented to a kiss, not a public mauling.”
A little laugh escaped before she could bite her lip to keep it inside. “Now I’m wondering what will happen if I consent to a public mauling.”

The visions she evoked meant he would need an icy shower before going to sleep. Wisely he changed the topic. “I’d like to see you again. Can we have breakfast together? I could swing by around eight, and we could walk down together.”

Malcolm didn’t know whether he asked her for the mission or because the pounding heartin his chest wanted to shrivel up and die at the thought of not seeing her. She nodded. “I’d like that.”
